The whole Matthew 27 refers tothe seven sprinklings of blood upon the Ark of Covenant. Now it means the suffering Jesus experiences until He dies on the cross to save, sanctify, and perfect our life.

Matthew 27:11-26 is about the second sprinkling of blood, namely Jesus Faces Pilate. It can be divided into two groups as follows.
  1. Verse 11-14, Jesus faces false accusation and questions.
  2. Verse 15-26, Jesus faces injustice.
Matthew 27:15-17
27:15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished.
27:16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
27:17 Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"

Pilate faces two choices, namely Jesus, the King of Truth or Barabbas, the king of evil.
One who receives the sprinkling of blood will never choose falsely but the right one for sure.
The truth has nothing to do with the quantity of the people who choose. Actually, there were many people choosing falsely at that time, namely choosing Barabbas.

The facts found in rejecting the sprinkling of blood are as follows:
  1. Envy.
    Matthew 27:18
27:18 For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy.

The meaning is anger, hatred, and jealousy, even hatred without any cause.
The beginning is in dislike. If it is not finished, it will increase in deed, namely one cannot be kind anymore toward other people. Such life will falsely choose something.

The envy or something that annoys in heart must be finished soon.

    For example, Saul has envy.
    1 Samuel 18:6-9
18:6 Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments.
18:7 So the women sang as they danced, and said: "Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands."
18:8 Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?"
18:9 So Saul eyed David from that day forward.

He envies David while David always helps him. His envy increases until he wants to kill him.

    Galatians 5:19-21
5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
5:21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The envy must be finished because it is one of the works of the flesh. One who keeps it will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  2. Being easily persuaded.
    Matthew 27:20
27:20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

Such life has no firm standing and only seeks physical advantage.
Moreover, he will falsely choose something.

It is better to check or ask the truth in order not to be persuaded when we are annoyed hearing something.
The persuasion is very dangerous because it makes Jesus crucified. Little thing can be made great and dangerous because of the persuasion.

  3. Hearing from two sources. Consequently, one falsely chooses.
Judas hears the voice of the chief priests as well as Jesus, so he chooses the chief priests more than Jesus. Hearing from two sources, one will falsely choose something.

Let us make our life firm in hearing the true teaching Word that is written in the bible, whose verse is explained by other verses.

    Genesis 2:15-17
2:15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
    2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
2:17 "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

    Genesis 3:1,6

3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"
3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Eve hears the voice of God and serpent, consequently she falsely chooses and falls into sin.

    1 Kings 11:1-6
11:1 But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites––
11:2 from the nations of whom the LORD had said to the children of Israel,
"You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods." Solomon clung to these in love.
11:3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.
11:4 For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.
11:5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
11:6 Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David.

Solomon gets the wisdom of God, so he can hold the sword [1 Kings 3] to finish the problem of two mothers who fight for a baby. Nevertheless, he hears the voices of his wives in his old age. Consequently, he falls in idolatry while the Word of God clearly says that he is not allowed to intermarry with them.

    Acts 20:9
20:9 And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.

Eutychus sat in a window hearing the preaching of Paul. He preaches until morning, meaning the preaching of the Word about Jesus’ second coming in glory as the King of all kings or heavenly Bridegroom. It is called Bride Tidings.
Sitting in a window means hearing the Word as well as the other voice outside. Consequently, he falls down from the third story and dies. One who hears from two sources will falsely choose and spiritually die.

    How can God help?
    Acts 20:10-12
20:10 But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, "Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him."
20:11 Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed.
20:12 And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted.

Paul falls on the young man and embraces him. He is the preacher of Bride Tidings. Meaning that God helps through the preaching of the whole Word of God.

The result of bearing the whole Word of God is as follows:

    • There is resurrection power in the Word.
Dead person can be made alive, meaning as follows:

      • Not sinning anymore but repenting and living in righteousness.
      • All dead things such as economy, health, future life, et cetera can be made alive.
    • There is promise in the Word to exalt us until we reach the perfection, referring to the third story.
There is no other way but bearing the whole Word of God to reach the perfection.
God blesses you.
