Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mark 2:17
2:17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Why does Jesus have to come in the world to call the sinners?

  1. Because all men have sinned and been naked.
    Romans 3:23
3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

In the beginning, God created the men as glorious as Him, according to His image [Genesis 1:26], to dwell in garden Eden and have the joy from Him.

    Genesis 3:4-7
3:4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
3:5 "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

Nevertheless, they were deceived by the serpent with its cunning through the strange voice and false teachings that are not in line with the true teaching Word. Consequently, they sinned, got naked, lost the glory of God, and were driven out of Eden to enter the world. They lived in curse, weariness, heavy burden, sufferings, and tears. In the world, they did not repent. Thus, all men have sinned up to the peak, namely sins concerning eating-drinking such as smoking, drugs abuse, and getting drunk, as well as the sins concerning marrying-being given in marriage such as sexuality sin with all its kinds, sexual deviation, and wrong marriage. They lived in the mire of sins like swine. They also become like dog that licks vomit, namely saying corrupt, unrighteous, and vain words. They are naked and not ashamed.

  2. Because the sinful men are separated from God and they live in curse and fear.
    Genesis 3:10
3:10 So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself."

The sin causes distress; there is no quietness and peace. The sinful men have no power to return to God. If it continues, they will be separated forever as well as experience the judgment of God and perdition.

    Luke 17:26-30

17:26"And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
17:27 "They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
    17:28 "
    Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;
17:29 "but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
17:30 "Even so will it be
in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

For example, men wallowed in the mire of sin in the days of Noah, up to the peak. Consequently, they were destroyed by the flood and only eight people could be saved.
Men also wallowed in the mire of sin in the days of Lot and they were destroyed by the fire and brimstone from heaven. Only three people were saved.
Men will also live in the sins up to the peak in the last days until there is condemnation by the fire from heaven.

    2 Peter 3:10

3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

The everlasting condemnation will happen in the sea of fire and brimstone in the hell.

God is not willing that the men He has created only wallow in the mire of sin, live in curse, and perish. Therefore, Jesus comes in the world to call the sinful so that they do not perish, but repent and can be saved by God.

How can Jesus call the sinful?
1 John 4:9-10
4:9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

He must come in the world as a sinless human and die on the cross to be reconciliation offering for the sins of men. Jesus bears the sin and the judgment on the cross to forgive, justify, and give garments to the sinful so that they will not be naked anymore.

How can we get the calling of God? We learn from Levi, the tax collector.
Mark 2:13-14
2:13 Then He went out again by the sea; and all the multitude came to Him, and He taught them.
2:14 As He passed by, He saw
Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So he arose and followed Him.

He refers to the sinful as well as the priests or God’s servants. He sat at the tax office. It means that he did not stand upon the sacrifice of Christ, so he wallowed in the sin of evil or the love of money and uncleanness or sins concerning eating-drinking and marrying-being given in marriage. It also means there is no anointing of Holy Spirit.
The signs of receiving the calling of God are standing (no longer sitting) and following Jesus. Standing means that we stand upon the sacrifice of Jesus or appreciate it. The facts found in it are as follows.

  1. Repenting or stopping sinning to return to God or die to sin.
  2. Being renewed through water baptism.
    Romans 6:2, 4
6:2Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
    6:4 Therefore we
were buriedwith Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raisedfrom the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

The right water baptism according to the Bible is a person who has died to sin must be buried in water together with Jesus and come out of water to get new life or heavenly one (the heavens are opened). We are justified and able to live in righteousness. It means having salvation.
We are like the clay returning to the hand of the Creator when we are repenting and being renewed.
The clay is created in these two forms.

  1. We are formed to be the vessel of grace or mercy of God as the vessel of His glory.
    Romans 9:20-24
9:20But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?"
9:21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
9:22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
9:23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,
9:24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

It means that we are formed as the priests and kings. Our duty is glorifying God wherever we are.
The requirement to glorify God is sacrificing or not insisting our right, but only doing our duty like flax that is willingly burnt to make the lamp burning.
Insisting the right, one will make God grieved and ashamed and his life will be dark.

    Isaiah 49:3-4

49:3 "And He said to me, ‘You are My servant, O Israel, In whom I will be glorified.’
49:4 Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely
my just reward is with the LORD, And my work with my God.’"

If the servant of God only does the duty without insisting the right, he will glorify God and become the light and blessings. The reward will never vanish away, but be in the merciful hand of God for the present, future, and eternal life. The Lord never fools us. Our life relies on the hands of God’s great mercy.

  2. We are created as the perfect new men who are as glorious as the Lord. We return to the image and example of God the Trinity.
The process happens through the life renewal.

    Galatians 5:22-23

5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
5:23 gentleness, self–control. Against such there is no law.

Being renewed means producing fruits. The nine fruits of the Spirit can be divided into three groups as follows.

    • Love, joy, and peace as the image of father God.
    • Longsuffering, kindness, and goodness as the image of the Son of God.
    • Faithfulness, gentleness, and self control are the image of Holy Spirit God.

We return to the image of God the Trinity to be the bride of God who is as glorious as He is.

    Jeremiah 18:1-6

18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:
18:2 "Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words."
18:3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel.
18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
18:5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
18:6 "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?" says the LORD. "Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!

The vessel is often corrupt and useless without the anointing of Holy Spirit when it is being formed as the vessel of glory to become the perfect new men. Such vessel is called as the vessel of wrath that will be destroyed.
For example, Levi, referring to God’s servant, sat at the tax office. He fell in the sin of evil and the bond of money. A woman who was a harlot fell in uncleanness and unfaithfulness sin.

    Luke 7:37

7:37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,

The condition of God’s servants who are corrupted or fall is like the earth before it was created as follows.
    Genesis 1:2
1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darknesswas on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

    • Without form or being mixed. It means there is no form of righteousness and holiness, but being mixed with sin like dog and swine.
    • Void. It means there is no true satisfaction, but dryness. Consequently, one looks for pseudo satisfaction in the world and falls in sin. The satisfaction of the world may be brought in the church.

    • Dark. It means being in fear, distress, failure, gloomy future life, up to the outer darkness in the hell.

Nevertheless, there is still the spirit of God that was hovering over the face of the waters. The face of the waters refers to zero point. It means that we humble ourselves at the feet of Jesus.

    Luke 7:38

7:38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.

We confess all of our sins, infirmities, and corruptness to God and others honestly. After being forgiven, we must not repeat the sin. We repent, have the renewal of life, and live in righteousness. As a result, the oil of the anointing of Holy Spirit is poured. The hand of God holds us to recreate us as the new vessel or the vessel of His glory. We are created as new men glorifying God. Holy Spirit is able to perform the spiritual miracle. The physical one also happens that all things become successful and beautiful in time of need until we are renewed to be perfect when Jesus comes a second time. We are worthy of welcoming Jesus’ second coming on the glorious clouds.

    Romans 11:29

29  For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

God blesses you.
