Bible Study Service in Malang, November 20, 2018 (Tuesday Evening)
Peace
and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation
8:1-5 consists of two parts as follows.
- Verse 1-4, namely the
atmosphere of silence that increases up to the silence in heaven or
the atmosphere of the worship prayer.
-
Verse 5, namely the
atmosphere of shakings in the world up to the everlasting perdition.
Revelation
8:3-4 8:3. Then another angel, having a
golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much
incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints
upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 8:4 And the
smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before
God from the angel's hand.
This is
about the prayers of all the saints on the throne of heaven together
with the smoke of the incense that ascends before God. It means
the worship prayer with the tearing, crucifixion, or the burning of
the flesh.
In Matthew 6:1-18, there
are three kinds of service to God which were taught by Jesus with the
tearing of the flesh as follows.
-
Doing a charitable
deed.
Matthew
6:1-4 6:1. "Take
heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen
by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.
6:2 "Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not
sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues
and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I
say to you, they have their reward. 6:3 "But when you do a
charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand
is doing, 6:4 "that your charitable deed may be in secret;
and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you
openly.
It is considered as a social
deed in the world as well as the church while God says that it is a
service to Him. Consequently, there is
hypocrisy as follows.
-
To be seen by men.
-
To be praised by men.
-
To get physical
profit.
James 1:26-27 1:26.
If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his
tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.
1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is
this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep
oneself unspotted from the world.
The
right charitable deed is a service to God that must be with the
following things.
- The holiness of heart,
namely the burning of the lusts of the flesh and the will of money,
which causes the stinginess and greediness.
-
The holiness of mouth,
namely the burning of the characteristics of the flesh, which likes
to get the praises and show the charitable deed to others.
The charitable deed can
be in the following forms.
-
Returning the tithes
and offerings that belong to God.
-
Giving to others who
are in need.
Such deed becomes the
smoke of the incense which is the sweet-smelling aroma before God.
-
Praying.
Matthew
6:5-14 6:5. "And when you pray,
you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing
in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may
be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
6:6 "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when
you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret
place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
6:7 "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the
heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many
words. 6:8 "Therefore do not be like them. For your Father
knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 6:9 "In
this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your
name. 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it
is in heaven. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread. 6:12
And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 6:13 And
do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
6:14 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you.
The
hypocrisy also happens in praying as follows.
-
To be seen by others or
to seem holy.
- Using vain repetitions
with a hope that many words in the prayer will be answered by God.
-
Seeing the physical
things only.
Matthew 6:9-10 6:9
"In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name. 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be
done On earth as it is in heaven.
The
true prayer is with the burning of the incense until the smoke
ascends. It means the tearing of the flesh. As a result, on earth as
it is in heaven. Although we are still living in the world, we can
feel the atmosphere of heaven.
Matthew
6:11-14 6:11 Give us this day our
daily bread. 6:12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our
debtors. 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver
us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the
glory forever. Amen. 6:14 "For if you forgive men their
trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
There
are three kinds of main need so that we always experience the
atmosphere of heaven although we are still living in the world as
follows.
-
[Matthew 6:11]
Spiritual food or the shepherding Word.
The shepherding Word means the true teaching Word which God
entrusts to a pastor who delivers it to the congregation
faithfully, sequentially, continually, and repetitively in the
shepherding pen through the perseverance in doing the three main
services to God. It will grow and make our spirituality mature
until we are as perfect as Jesus is.
Hebrews
5:11-14 5:11. of whom we have much to
say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you
need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles
of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 5:13
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of
righteousness, for he is a babe. 5:14. But
solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who
by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good
and evil.
There
are two kinds of spiritual food as follows.
-
The milk, the Gospel
of Salvation, the Good News, or the Gospel Word. It preaches
Jesus' first coming to the world as the only sinless man who
must die on the cross to save the sinners.
For whom is the
Gospel Word?
- For the people who
have not believed in Jesus, so they can believe in Him and get
the salvation.
-
For the newcomers or
ones who have just believed in Jesus, so their spirituality may
grow through repenting, being renewed from water and Spirit, and
having the new life in righteousness.
-
The solid food, the
light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, the Bride Tidings, or
the teaching Word which is sharper than any two-edged sword. It
preaches Jesus' second coming in the glory as the king of all
kings and the heavenly Bridegroom to sanctify and perfect the
saved people. We can be the heavenly bride who is ready to welcome
Jesus' second coming on the glorious clouds.
What must be
sanctified? Hebrews
5:14 5:14. But
solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who
by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good
and evil.
The sanctification begins
from the five senses or the heart.
Proverbs
30:8-9 30:8. Remove falsehood and
lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches--Feed me
with the food allotted to me; 30:9 Lest I be full and deny
You, And say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and
steal, And profane the name of my God.
After
we live in holiness or our heart and mouth are holy, we will
experience the atmosphere of heaven, so we are preserved by God
abundantly. We always give thanks to Him and become blessings for
others.
Exodus 16:4-5,16 16:4.
Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from
heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain
quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My
law or not. 16:5 "And it shall be on the sixth day that
they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as
much as they gather daily." 16:16 "This is the
thing which the LORD has commanded: 'Let every man gather it
according to each one's need, one omer for each person, according
to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in
his tent.' "
God guarantees
our life with manna from heaven. The Israelites had to gather manna
as follows.
-
One omer every day
from the first to the fifth day.
It means that the shepherding
Word sanctifies our five senses. The more we are sanctified, the
more our life is preserved.
-
Twice as much as they
gathered daily on the sixth day.
The first
omer is for the preservation and the second is for the rest or the
seventh day. We get the silence and peace or preservation for our
soul. All things become easy and light.
-
Manna to be kept for
generations in a golden pot.
Exodus
16:33-36 16:33. And
Moses said to Aaron, "Take a
pot and put an omer of manna in it,
and lay it up before the LORD, to be
kept for your generations."
16:34 As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before
the Testimony, to be kept. 16:35 And the children of Israel
ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they
ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.
16:36 Now an omer is one-tenth of an ephah.
The
shepherding Word is able to sanctify us until we are as perfect as
Jesus is. We get the full tearing of the flesh or the Veil is
torn. The proof is that we can return the tithes which belong
to God. We live by the tithes we return to God.
-
The clothes of
forgiveness.
Matthew
6:12 6:12. And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
Romans
3:23 3:23. for all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God,
Since
Adam and Eve sinned and were cast to the world, all men have
sinned. The consequences are nakedness and fear.
Isaiah
59:1-3 59:1. Behold, the LORD'S
hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That
it cannot hear. 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you
from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that
He will not hear. 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood,
And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your
tongue has muttered perversity.
Consequently,
there is spiritual dryness. There are no heavenly satisfaction and
joy.
Ephesians 2:1 2:1.
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses
and sins,
It continues until there
is spiritual death. It means not actively doing the spiritual
things anymore, so one actively does sins up to the peak.
Therefore, we must have the clothes of forgiveness. How
can we get it?
- As for Jesus, he must
be stripped until His death on the cross to give His garments and
robe.
-
As for us, we must
bring our nakedness to the cross. It means doing the
reconciliation or confessing sins to God and others honestly.
After being forgiven, do not repeat the sin. We must also forgive
the sin of others and forget it.
If we are holy and
peaceful, we will be able to minister to God. It begins from the
marriage.
-
The house of
prayer or the place of refuge from the evil.
Matthew 6:13 6:13.
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil
one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
The house of prayer means one
who likes worshiping God. Not liking worshiping God, one will
be the den of thieves.
James
1:13-15 1:13. Let
no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for
God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
1:14 But each one is tempted when he
is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
1:15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin;
and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
The
fleshly desire draws away and entices us to go out of the will of
God. The worship prayer refers to the tearing of flesh with all
of its wills and lusts, so we can be obedient until the flesh does
not speak anymore.
The results are
as follows.
-
The hands of the Good
Shepherd give the guarantee of assurance for our present life in
the world up to the eternal one.
John
10:27-28 10:27 "My sheep hear
My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 10:28 "And
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither
shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
-
The hands of the Great
Shepherd equip us with all good things as follows.
Hebrews
13:20-21 13:20 Now may the God of
peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great
Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting
covenant, 13:21 make you complete in every good work to do
His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight,
through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
- The good conscience,
so we can do good deeds; even we can repay good for evil.
-
The beautiful tunic
or the ministry, so we are used in the ministry for edifying the
perfect body of Christ.
-
The loving hands of
the Chief Shepherd make all things beautiful in His time, give the
crown of glory that does not fade away, and lift us up to the
glorious clouds.
1 Peter 5:4 5:4
and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of
glory that does not fade away.
-
Being discussed in
the next sermon.
God
blesses you.
