Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 8 refers to the Golden Candlestick. In Luke 8, there are seven stories that refer to seven lamps on the Golden Candlestick and they are as follows:

  1. Many Women Minister to Jesus (Luke 8:1-3).
  2. The Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:4-15).
  3. The Parable of the Revealed Light (Luke 8:16-18).
  4. Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Come to Him (Luke 8:19-21).
  5. Wind and Wave Obey Jesus (Luke 8:22-25).
  6. A Demon-Possessed Man Healed (Luke 8:26-39).
  7. A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed (Luke 8:40-56).

We discuss the seventh story namely A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed.

In Luke 8:40-56, there are three stories that are closely related, so they become one story. There are three persons as follows:

  1. Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue.
    Luke 8:40-42
8:40. So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him.
8:41. And behold, there came a man named
Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house,

  2. A woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years and could not be healed.
    Luke 8:43
8:43. Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,

  3. A twelve years old girl who was dead.
    Luke 8:49
8:49. While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, "Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher."

These three stories refer to our personal life, namely body, soul and spirit as follows.

  1. Jairus refers to weak bodybecause of problem or heavy burden, namely facing his daughter who was sick and dying, there was no hope.

  2. A woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years refers to weary soulthat languishes; there is no rest and peace.
It is like the blood keeps flowing for twelve years. There is a soul in the blood. Flowing of blood refers to weary soul.

  3. A sick girl who died refers to dead spirit. It means having no relationship with God.

If the condition of our body, soul and spirit are like this, we will have no relationship with God, so we do not bear spiritual fruit at all. It is like the branch which is released from true vine, so it becomes useless and is thrown into the fire.

Ezekiel 15:1-4
15:1. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
15:2. "Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any other wood, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?
15:3. "Is wood taken from it to make any object? Or can men make a peg from it to hang any vessel on?
15:4. "Instead, it is thrown into the fire for fuel;
the fire devours both ends of it, and its middle is burned. Is it useful for any work?

The fire devours both ends of the wood means weak body and dead spirit. The middle of the wood is burned means weary soul.
How great a Christian young man is, if he is released from the true vine, his body, soul and spirit will be controlled by sin and become the throne of Satan.

1 Corinthians 5:11
5:11. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexuallyimmoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner––not even to eat with such a person.

The sins bind the body, soul and spirit of the young man as follows:

  1. The sins that bind the body are sexually immoral and a drunkard.
Sexually immoral is sin of marrying-giving in marriage or sexual sin with all its kinds.
A drunkard is sin of eating-drinking.

The body that is bound by sin becomes weak (like a drunkard), sick and in problem.

  2. The sins that bind the soul are covetous, a reviler, an extortioner. Being covetous means one cannot give, but has too much calculation with God about time and money. It is like Judas.
Consequently, he is not counted by God.

A reviler is true things are said false and false things are said true.
An extortioner is saying false, so his soul labors.

  3. The sin that binds the spirit is an idolater. It means one loves other more than God.

If the body, soul and spirit are controlled by the six sins, we will be the throne of Satan to be totally burned and perish.

We have to surrender our body, soul and spirit to Godby serving and ministering Him, so we may not perish.

The signs of true worship are as follows:
Romans 12:1-2
12:1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
12:2. And do not be conformed to this world, but
be transformedby the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

  1. Being shepherded.
We must be shepherded to true teaching Word and enter shepherding system like branch that abides in the truevine, namely the true Jesus.
The signs of true teaching Word are as follows:

    • It is written in the Bible.
    • It is revealed and the secret is opened, namely a verse explains another verse.

If we find the true Jesus, we will find everything we need.
We must be always in true pen.
Do not worship with the system of Esau, namely hunting system. It means he chased flesh until he lost the birthright, spiritual thing and everything.

  2. Being transformed. It is the same as yielding sweet fruit.
    1 Peter 2:2
2:2. as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

Being transformed means we become as newborn babes and the sign is our mouth just drinks the pure milk of the word or true teaching word in the anointing of Holy Spirit.
We like spiritual food. On the contrary, we are dead like Jairus' daughter.

    Luke 8:55
8:55. Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat.

After Jairus' daughter was risen, she was given something to eat. The sign that we are alive is we eat.

There are three kinds of renewal as follows:

    • The renewal of the body.
      Romans 12:1
12:1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodiesa livingsacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

A living body means it is controlled by Holy Spirit, so he serves and ministers actively and faithfully.

The holy body means it is not defiled by sin.
The body that is acceptable to God means obedience.

    • The renewal of the heart/spirit.
      Romans 12:2

12:2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The renewal of the heart/spirit means we can prove what is that true and false, starting from discerning true and false teaching.

    • The renewal of mind/soul.
      Romans 12:3
12:3. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

The renewal of mind/soul means we have simple mind/soul, we always humble ourselves and surrender all to God.
Do not exalt yourselves! Let God exalt us in due time.

The practices of the renewal of body, soul and spirit are as follows:
    Ephesians 4:22-28, 32
4:22. that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
    4:23. and
be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
4:24. and that you put on the
new manwhich was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
    4:25. Therefore,
putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.
    4:26. "
Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
4:27. nor give place to the devil.
    4:28.
Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
    4:32. And be
kindto one another, tenderhearted, forgivingone another, just as God in Christ forgave you.

    • Speaking truth and good words: putting away lying, speaking truth and we become blessing for others.
    • Acting truth and good deeds: do not quarrel (angry with emotion), steal et cetera.|
    • Having true and good attitude: being kind, tenderhearted and forgiving one another.

By experiencing the renewal of body, soul and spirit, we become the throne of God.

If we become the throne of God, the result is a pure river of water of life, namely Holy Spirit proceeds from the throne of God
.
Revelation 22:1
22:1. And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of Godand of the Lamb.

We become the place of Holy Spirit, so we can live.

  1. A pure river of water of life gives the gifts of Holy Spiritthat determine our ministry. We are used in the building of the perfect body of Christ, so we are ridden by God and become His throne.

    Romans 12:4-6
12:4. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,
12:5. so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
    12:6.
    Having then giftsdiffering according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;

We become the throne of God, so there is always the atmosphere of the throne of God, the Heaven and the happiness.

  2. A pure river of water of life gives satisfaction of the Heaven, so we can testify to others and worship God (springing up).
    John 7:37-38

7:37. On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
7:38. "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart
will flow rivers of living water."

The Samaritan woman did not have satisfaction, so she fell into sin of marrying-giving in marriage.
At last, she found living water and was satisfied, so she could testify.

  3. A pure river of water of life gives live.
    Ezekiel 47:8-9
47:8. Then he said to me: "This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.
47:9. "And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and
everything will live wherever the river goes.

A pure river of water of life or Holy Spirit is able to take care of our life physically in the middle of impossibilities, so we have beautiful future. Holy Spirit takes care of our life spiritually too, so we can live in righteousness and holiness up to being perfected one day.

  4. Holy Spirit changes us.
    Revelation 22:1
22:1. And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Holy Spirit changes our life up to being as clear as crystal. It means we are honest and trust to God.
We get sincere faith, namely we totally believe to God and there is no doubt at all.
We experience spiritual and physical miracle.

    John 11:39-40
11:39. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days."
11:40. Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would
believeyou would see the glory of God?"

Martha wants to dissimulate. It means being not honest.
Although we have been dead or there is a stench, God can help our life, the impossible thing becomes possible.
When Jesus comes a second time, we will be changed to become as glorious as Him and we enter New Jerusalem, the city that is as clear as crystal.

    Revelation 21:11
21:11. having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

God blesses us.
