Prayer Service in Malang, July 03, 2012 (Tuesday Evening)

The whole Matthew 27 refers to the seven sprinklings of blood upon the Ark of Covenant.
Now it means the suffering Jesus has experienced until He dies on the cross to save, sanctify, bless, and perfect us.

The first sprinkling of blood is written in Matthew 27:1-10, namely Jesus handed over to Pontius Pilate and Judas Iscariot’s death.

The second sprinkling of blood is written in Matthew 27:11-26, namely Jesus faces Pilate as follows.
The third sprinkling of bloodis written in Matthew 27: 27-31, namely the soldiers mock Jesus.

Matthew 27: 27-31
27:27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him.
27:28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
27:29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
27:30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.
27:31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.

The soldiers put a scarlet robe on Jesus, mocking and despising Him.
The scarlet robe refers to the authority of a king.

Thus, the soldiers put on the scarlet robe to Jesus means they mock and despise the authority of Jesus as the King of all kings.

1 Corinthians 15:25-26
15:25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
15:26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

The authority of Jesus as a king is to defeat all enemies under His feet.

There are three kinds of main enemies defeated by the authority of Jesus as the king of all kings as follows.
  1. The world with all its influences such as the business, amenities, and sorrows.
    James 4:4
4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Making friendship with the world means being influenced by it until there is no faithfulness anymore in doing service and ministry to God.
The unfaithfulness means mocking the authority of Jesus as the King of all kings and being the enemy of God.

  2. The flesh with all its will and lust that makes us disobedient to God’s commandment.
    Romans 8:7
8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

The flesh will has power to entice and drag, so one goes out of the Word of God or disobeys it.

    The examples are as follows.
    • Eve eats the forbidden fruit because of her flesh will, referring to inside factor, and hearing the voice of serpent or strange voice, referring to outside factor. Consequently, she is not firm but disobedient to God’s Word.

    • John the Baptist, in New Testament, rebukes King Herod because of getting married with Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. The lust about marriage causes Herod’ disobedience, so he has false marriage.

The disobedience means mocking the authority of Jesus as the King of all kings and being the enemy of God.

  3. The death or sin, that causes unrighteousness and uncleanness.
    1 Corinthians 15:25-26
15:25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
15:26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

Being unrighteous through keeping sin means mocking the authority of Jesus as the King of all kings and being the enemy of God. Consequently, there is second death in hell.

    1 Samuel 20: 3

20:3 Then David took an oath again, and said, "Your father certainly knows that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.’ But truly, as the LORD lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death."

A step means a heart-beat. It is our distance with physical and spiritual death and the one in hell.
David confesses “there is but a step between me and death.”It shows us that every our heart-beat is threatened by the death.

There is death which is working to bring man to the second death in hell where there is unrighteousness.

The safest place to fight against the death is at the foot of Jesus as the King [1 Corinthians 15:25].

    Luke 7:36-38,50
7:36 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat.
7:37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,
7:38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
7:50 Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

Sitting at Jesus’ feet, the King who has defeated the death, means making peace with God and other people, referring to the cross.
The true way of making peace is because of the encouragement of the Word of God. Do not wait for the chastisement of God until there is destruction first.

The process of making peace is as follows.
God blesses you.
