Record of Prayer Service in Serui.

Peace and grace in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

James 5:16-18
5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
5:18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

The prayer which can be acceptable to God or answered by Him is like the one of Elijah's.

The requirements are as follows:
  1. It is lifted up by a righteous man.
    James 5:16
5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Since Adam and Eve sinned in garden Eden and were driven out to enter the world, all men in the world have sinned and no one is righteous. The sin separates us from God, so the prayer is not answered by Him.

We must be a righteous man through confessing and praying for one another so that our prayer can be answered by God. We confess our sin to God and other people and after being forgiven, we do not repeat the sin. We must also forgive and forget the sins of others.

Then, the blood of Jesus erases all of our sins.
    The results are as follows:

    • We are justified and live in righteousness.
    • We feel peaceful. Our heart is not accused. We do neither accuse, judge, nor blame at others. We also do not use the self-truth.

It is the same as repairing the altar which has been broken down, so our prayer can be answered by God.

    1 Kings 18:30
18:30 Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come near to me." So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

Be careful! Keeping the sins and self-truth is the same as breaking down the altar, so the prayer is not answered by God.

  2. It is lifted up fervently and earnestly.
    James 5:16-17
5:16 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, ferventprayer of a righteous man avails much.
5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed
earnestlythat it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months

    • The fervent prayer means that the Word has been faith in heart.
      John 15:7
15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

We pray without any doubts to God. We only believe and hope God.

      1 Kings 18:21
18:21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, "How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." But the people answered him not a word.

      1 Kings 18:41
18:41 Then Elijah said to Ahab, "Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain."

Our ears keep on hearing the Word and we keep on believing it although our eyes have not seen the help of God.

      Romans 4:19-21
4:19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb.
4:20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
4:21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.

Foe example, Abraham kept on believing the promise of God or His Word although his eyes saw the impossible matter.
God is able to fulfill His promise more than what we can think or do.

    • Praying earnestly means that we pray in perseverance.
      1 Kings 18:42-44
18:42 So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,
18:43 and said to his servant, "Go up now, look toward the sea." So he went up and looked, and said, "There is nothing." And seven times he said, "Go again."
18:44 Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, "There is a cloud, as small as a man's hand, rising out of the sea!" So he said, "Go up, say to Ahab, 'Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.'"

When the prayer has not been answered by God, we are experiencing the test of perseverance until it becomes perfect (seven times) and we can bow down on the ground. It means humbling our life as low as possible and confessing that we are only the clay. We confess our many weaknesses and powerlessness or we can do nothing. We only hope the great grace or mercy of God.

  3. Crying out the powerful name of Jesus.
    1 Kings 18:36-39
18:36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.
18:37 "Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again."
18:38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
18:39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!"

We only cry out, surrender, and stretch out our hands to God.
There will be a cloud, as small as a man's hand for sure. It refers to the stretching out of the great merciful hands of God that help us who are small and powerless.

    The results are as follows:

    • The merciful hands of God are able to do all things we can neither think nor do.
    • The merciful hands of God are able to create something that does not exist yet and preserve our life in the world up to the time when the Antichrist reigns over the world for three and a half years.

    • The merciful hands of God are able to make impossible things possible. God is able to help us in the twinkling of an eye.
      1 Kings 18:45
18:45 Now it happened in the meantimethat the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.

He can also change our life to be as perfect as He is in the twinkling of an eye.

      1 Corinthians 15:52
15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Do not be hopeless whatever weaknesses you have. The important thing is trying and asking God to change our life until we are changed to be as perfect as Jesus is. We can welcome Jesus' second coming on the glorious clouds.
God blesses you.
