Bible Study Service in Malang, December 15, 2011 (Thursday Evening)
The title of Matthew
26:36-46 is IN GETHSEMANE.
Gethsemane
is a press.
Matthew
26:36, 40-41 26:36.
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to
the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there."
26:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and
said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour?
26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The
spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Formerly,
Jesus experienced the press or suffering in the flesh without any sin
in Gethsemane. Now, in the last days, the followers of Jesus will
also experience the suffering in the flesh without any sin. It
happens in the form of suffering in the flesh even persecution
because of serving and ministering God, keeping righteousness, facing
many difficulties in all aspects of life, being slandered, et
cetera.
All of them can be defeated only by watching
and praying for one hour.
Matthew
26:42 26:42
Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My
Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your
will be done."
Watching
and praying for one hour are to
tear or crucify the will and lust of flesh
which are always contradictory to the Word of God, so we
can obey the will of God
or live in His will.
I
John 2:17 2:17
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does
the will of God abides forever.
He
who does the will of God abides forever. On the contrary, one is
passing away together with the world if he is outside the true
teaching Word although he seems to be great before other people.
There
are three kinds of God's will related to Tabernacle or heavenly
kingdom as follows:
- The
first God's will: that
we always do good, referring to the Court of Tabernacle.
I
Peter 2:15 2:15
For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to
silence the ignorance of foolish men--
The
practice is as follows:
- Righteous
deeds according to the true teaching Word,
not
according to what other people say.
The righteous deed must be
good but not all good deeds are righteous.
II
Kings 10:30 10:30
And the LORD said to Jehu, "Because you
have done well in doing what is right in My sight,
and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, your
sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation."
We
are responsible for doing righteous deeds because it determines the
destiny of our descendants.
- Good
deeds to other people, especially to those who are of the household
of faith or other members of Christ's body, through giving and
visiting
(Matthew
25).
Galatians
6:9-10 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we
shall reap if we do not lose heart. 6:10 Therefore, as
we have opportunity,
let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household
of faith.
Remember!
There will not always be opportunity to do good things. As long
as we are still stirred by God through the true teaching Word, we
have to be obedient.
Judas Iscariot was hard-hearted so His
heart was never touched by the Word.
If we always reject the
stir of the Word, someday we will not be able to do good to other
members of the body of Christ or there is no opportunity to enter
the building of the body of Christ. Meaning, there are only evil
deeds such as provoking or slandering other people, and unclean
deeds. In such condition, one goes toward the building of the body
of Babel.
- Not
repaying evil for evil, but repaying good for evil, meaning we
always do good and righteous deeds and we never do sin.
In
such condition, we
are righteous as Jesus is.
Romans
12:17, 21 12:17
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the
sight of all men. 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but
overcome evil with good.
I
John 3:7 3:7
Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices
righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
Psalm
17:15 17:15
As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be
satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
"In
righteousness" means we live in righteousness and we hold fast
one true teaching Word. The result of living in righteousness is
we can see the face of Jesus and we are satisfied. In addition, we
have physical and spiritual preservation.
We
will not seek satisfaction of the world and we will not fall in sins
and false teachings.
- The
second God's will: our
sanctification
or we live in holiness (the Holy Place).
I
Thessalonians 4:3-8 4:3
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should
abstain from sexual immorality; 4:4 that each of you should
know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 4:5
not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 4:6
that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in
this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also
forewarned you and testified. 4:7 For God did not call us to
uncleanness, but in holiness. 4:8 Therefore he who rejects this
does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy
Spirit.
God
calls and chooses us to become priests to do His will, namely living
in holiness, not doing unclean or false or sinful things.
The
practice is as follows: Priests
must heed to the Holy Place or the sheepfold through persevering in
the three main services to the Lord.
Maybe
we have sin, but soon after the Word points our sin, we have to
leave it.
Heed to the Holy Place! Heed to the sword of
sanctification Word!
One who rejects the sanctification Word
means rejecting God, not rejecting any human.
We
have to live in the holiness, in our private life, marriage, as well
as service and ministry to the Lord.
The
sanctification to a priest begins
from the deepest heart
which hides many unclean and evil deeds.
Matthew
15:19-20 15:19
"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts (1), murders (2),
adulteries (3), fornications (4), thefts (5), false witness (6),
blasphemies (7). 15:20 "These are the things which defile
a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."
Evil
thoughts equals to prejudice. Beware of theft sin! Do not steal
the possession of God and other people! Blaspheming equals to
slandering, et cetera.
If our heart is sanctified, our
whole life will be sanctified also until we are holy as Jesus is.
I
Peter 1:15-16 1:15
but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your
conduct, 1:16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am
holy."
Matthew
5:8 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
The
result of being holy is we can see God as follows:
- For
the priest or pastor, he
can see the revelation of the Word of God.
- For
the congregation, they
can enjoy, believe, and hold fast the revelation of the Word of God
and practice it.
(Chapter
4 of the first epistle of Thessalonians refers to the garment of
priest which is white with many meshes. White color means holiness,
and many meshes mean we can see God.)
When we are willing to
be sanctified until we can see God, He
is looking at us, meaning He is paying His full attention to us.
He knows all things up to the deepest part of our heart.
Exodus
3:5-8 3:5
Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals
off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground."
3:6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father -- the
God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And
Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. 3:7 And
the LORD said: "I
have surely seen
the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and
have heard
their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
3:8 "So I
have come down to deliver them out
of the hand of the Egyptians, and to
bring them up
from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk
and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the
Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
Moses
experienced sanctification until he had heart as a baby (he took his
sandals off his feet). Meaning sanctification from seven evil and
unclean lusts, one becomes as a baby without any prejudice, murder
or hatred, lie, et cetera.
Do not insist attention from other
people because it is better that only God knows our suffering! If
we are in holiness, High Priest is looking at us to care us as
follows:
- He
is bearing all our heavy burdens and weariness, so we feel easy and
light.
It is wrong if our following to Jesus is heavier day by
day! We indeed have burden in our life but we can feel easy and
light until the time of God comes to set us free.
- The
Lord hears our prayer to settle all our problems in time of need.
- He
guides us to Canaan, meaning He employs us in the revival of Holy
Spirit at the last rain or the building of Christ's body.
The
revival of Holy Spirit at the last rain is the revival in true
teaching Word to bring the congregation to enter the unity of the
perfect body of Christ with Jesus as the Head.
The more we
are sanctified, we can see Jesus clearly and the more we can hold
fast one true teaching Word, that is the one persona of Jesus.
- The
third God's will: perfection
(the Most Holy Place).
Matthew
5:48 5:48
"Therefore you shall
be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Colossians
3:14 3:14
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of
perfection.
We
become perfect and as glorious as Jesus is by the
work of the perfect love of God.
Matthew
5:43-45 5:43.
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your
neighbor and hate your enemy.' 5:44 "But I say to you,
love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who
hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute
you, 5:45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven;
for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends
rain on the just and on the unjust.
The
practice is as follows: The
perfect love of Jesus is as the sun rising in heaven together with
the rain, referring to the true teaching Word. We cannot live
only by the sun or only by the rain.
Deuteronomy
32:1-2 32:1.
"Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the
words of my mouth. 32:2 Let my teaching drop as the rain, My
speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as
showers on the grass."
The true teaching Word begins from as the dew that not many
people know it, and then it increases to be as raindrops that a few
people begin to pay attention to, up to the shower on the grass,
referring to the revival of Holy Spirit at the last rain.
The
perfect love comes from the true teaching Word. Without
the Word, there is only flesh love which is a fake.
How
can we get the love of God?
By worshiping
God or watching and praying. In
our worship, we are tearing our flesh which is so weak and hard, so
we can live by the Spirit who is willing; we can obey the will of
God or the true teaching Word.
Being obedient,
we can see Jesus' face that shines the love of God. ("If
you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love.")
Isaiah
52:13-14 52:13.
Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and
extolled and be very high. 52:14 Just as many were astonished
at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form
more than the sons of men;
As
a result, Jesus was willing that His visage was marred more than any
man but as dog and swine on the cross as follows:
- To
bear all our bad.
- To
shine 100% love as the sun to us.
The
function of the love as the sun is as follows:
- Genesis
19:21-23
19:21
And he said to him, "See, I have favored you concerning this
thing also, in that I will not overthrow this city for which you
have spoken. 19:22 "Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do
anything until you arrive there." Therefore the name of the
city was called Zoar. 19:23 The sun had risen upon the earth
when Lot entered Zoar.
To
face Sodom and Gomorrah as follows:
- Sins
up to the peak, namely sins concerning eating-drinking and
marrying-being given in marriage.
- Many
shakings, temptations or crises in all aspects of life nothing may
defeat.
We keep quiet in the love as the sun and God will
settle all things.
- The
judgment of God.
We are set free from the judgment of God
because of the love as the sun.
- Genesis
32:24, 28
32:24.
Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the
breaking of day. 32:28 And He said, "Your name shall no
longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God
and with men, and have prevailed."
To
face many struggles such as anxiety, fear, et cetera in our private
life, and struggle in marriage and children problem, all kinds of
problem.
The
name of Jacob means a liar. It was changed to become Israel, whose
meaning is a winner. We can defeat sins, beginning from not
lying, and we can defeat all problems in our life, until we get new
name that is written in New Jerusalem.
- The
love as the sun renews us from carnal man or mortar pot to
spiritual one or the golden pot that had manna, beginning from we
can love our enemies and pray for them.
The
enemies mean those who keep sins, give disadvantage to other
people, and make us their enemy.
We are renewed continually
until we
can be perfect as Jesus is,
and we can welcome His second coming to become one with Him
forever.
God
blesses you.
