General Service in Malang, May 27, 2012 (Sunday Morning)
Matthew
27 refers to seven
sprinklings of blood upon the Ark of Covenant.
Now it means the suffering experienced by Jesus up to His death
on the cross to save, purify, bless, and perfect us.
There
are seven passages in Matthew 27 that refer to seven sprinklings of
blood. We learn the first sprinkling of blood, namely Jesus
handed over to Pontius Pilate and Judas' death [Matthew 27:1-10].
Matthew
27:1-5 27:1.
When morning came,
all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus
to put Him to death. 27:2
And when they had
bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the
governor. 27:3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been
condemned, was
remorseful and
brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and
elders, 27:4
saying, "I have
sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is
that to us? You
see to it!" 27:5
Then he threw down
the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged
himself.
Jesus
experiences suffering since Judas Iscariot, His own disciple, whom He
takes care of spiritually, betrays him. Jesus is sold and delivered
to the chief priests and elders, and then to Pontius Pilate to be
judged and put to death.
At
the end Judas Iscariot is remorseful. It means that life who betrays
Jesus or the true teaching Word just because of carnal matter will be
remorseful sometime. He will feel that everything he gets in this
world means nothing without Jesus. It means late regret, regret which
has no meaning anymore.
The
example in Old Testament is Esau.
Hebrews
12:16 12:16
lest there be
any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of
food sold his birthright.
Esau
betrays God since he is a profane person. He sells his birthright for
one morsel of food. Now it means sacrificing spiritual matters, those
are the true teaching Word and ministry, to get physical ones.
Birthright
is the marriage right, that is the right to enter the marriage supper
of the Lamb of God and inherit the Heaven. Loosing the birthright
means being left on Jesus' second coming, and cannot enter the
marriage supper of the Lamb of God and the eternal kingdom of Heaven.
Hebrews
12:17 12:17 For
you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he
was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought
it diligently with tears.
It
was late when Esau regretted it and sought it diligently with tears.
The
example in New Testament is Judas Iscariot.
Matthew
27:5 27:5 Then
he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and
went and hanged himself.
Judas
Iscariot betrays Jesus, that is betraying the true teaching Word and
ministry, just for thirty pieces of silver. At the end Judas is
remorseful. He throws down the pieces of silver, goes, and hangs
himself.
Acts
1:18 1:18 Now
this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling
headlong,
he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out.
Judas
is falling headlong. It means he embosoms the earth. He loves the
world so he cannot love God.
1
John 2:15-17 2:15
Do not love the
world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love
of the Father is not in him. 2:16
For all that is
in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 2:17
And the world is
passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God
abides forever.
The
daily practices of loving the world are as follows:
- The
lust of the eyes that leads to eating-drinking sins (smoking,
getting drunk, consuming drugs).
- The
lust of the flesh that leads to marrying and being given in marriage
sins (sexuality sin with all its variety, free sex, wrong
marriage).
- The
pride of life that leads one to be disobedient to the true teaching
Word. If we are disobedient to the Word, we will not obey spiritual
parents (pastor) and further physical parents.
Judas
Iscariot falls into the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and
the pride of life which are hidden or covered all the way so he is
still looked good and right (Judas kisses Jesus while another
disciples run away). It is as Judas sacrifices for God. But sometime,
Judas is falling headlong and he bursts open in the middle and all
his entrails gush out. It means that all
hidden sins and decay will be opened, and there are no more chances
to restore him, but only perdition forever.
In
the last days, many lives as Judas Iscariot will deceive God's
servants or God's children who have flesh view. They look right but
actually they are wolves.
It
is better that we do not hide anything now, but experience the work
of the sword of the Word which pierces our heart, purifies our deeds
and words. We can realize, regret, realize, and leave the sins. Until
on Jesus' second coming, we will be already as perfect as Him. We
will be lifted up to the glorious clouds, and we will be together
with God forever.
Acts
22:25 22:25 And
as they bound
him with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who stood by, "Is it
lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and uncondemned?"
The
right attitude is being recumbent. It means that we have to put
backward the world and come before God only.
The
daily practices of being recumbent:
- Experiencing
death and resurrection together with Jesus. It is started from water
baptism.
Colossians
2:20 2:20
Therefore, if you
died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as
though
living in the world, do you subject yourselves to
regulations--
Romans
6:4 6:4
Therefore we were
buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was
raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life.
The
true water baptism is we are buried together with Jesus in water, so
we have death experience to rise in newness of life, that is life in
righteousness.
Thus, being recumbent means as follows:
- Daring
to live in righteousness although it is in conflict with the world.
- Daring
dare to oppose the wrong things.
The
requirement of water baptism is death from sins. The execution
of true water baptism is being buried in water.
- Being
obedient to the will of God and the true teaching Word whatever the
risks must be faced.
1
John 2:17 2:17
And the world is
passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God
abides forever.
This
world is still going back to the days of Noah, when God's servants
and God's children lived in sins up to the peak of sins. There are
only eight persons saved. We must be careful.
- Persevering
in three main services in the shepherding, up to persevering in
worshiping God.
The disciples persevere in prayer in the attic of Jerusalem
until the Holy Spirit is poured. It is the way out from God.
Acts
2:1-4 2:1 When
the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord
in one place. 2:2
And suddenly
there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it
filled the whole house where they were sitting. 2:3
Then there
appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one
sat upon each of them. 2:4
And they were all
filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Holy
Spirit does miracles in our life.
The
usefulness of Holy Spirit is as follows:
- Holy
Spirit is as living water who makes life. Holy Spirit also provides
the things that do not exist before.
Ezekiel
47:8-9 47:8
Then he said to
me: "This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into
the valley, and enters the sea. When
it reaches the
sea, its
waters are healed. 47:9
And it shall be
that
every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live.
There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters
go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live
wherever the river goes.
Holy
Spirit cares our life in the middle of difficulties and
impossibilities in this world. Holy Spirit gives us the
Heavenly satisfaction, so we will not fall into this world
satisfaction and sins. Holy Spirit also enables us to live in
righteousness and purity, so we can experience God's love.
- Holy
Spirit flattens the mounts of temptation. All problems even the
impossible ones will be solved.
Zechariah
4:6-7 4:6 So
he answered and said to me: "This is
the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
'Not by might nor by power,
but by My Spirit,'
Says the Lord of hosts. 4:7
'Who are
you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you
shall become a
plain!
And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of
"Grace, grace to it!"'"
-
Holy
Spirit renews our life from flesh men to become spiritual men as
Jesus.
Titus
3:5 3:5 not
by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His
mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing
of the Holy Spirit,
Renewal
of life is the greatest miracle which cannot be falsified by
anything else. The sign of having Holy Spirit is bearing witness.
Thomas has denied God, but after being fulfilled by Holy Spirit, he
is willing to die for Him. Peter has denied God, but after being
fulfilled by Holy Spirit, he is willing to die for Him. Mary
Magdalene is also unclean, but after being fulfilled by Holy
Spirit, she may become God's witness.
Until we will be
lifted up to the glorious clouds and enter the eternal kingdom of
Heaven.
God
blesses us.
