Matthew 14:22-33
14:22 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away.
14:23
And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.
14:24
But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
14:25
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.
14:26
And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
14:27
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
14:28
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
14:29
So He said, “Come.”And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
14:30
But when he saw that the wind wasboisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched out Hishand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
14:32
And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
14:33
Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

The obstacles in following God to other side (New Jerusalem) are as follows:

  1. The waves.
    James 1:6
1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

The wave refers to the problems we faced that always make us in doubt, worry, and anxiety.

  2. The wind that was contrary.
    Ephesians 4:14
4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

It is the wind of temptation about our needs. It is also the false teaching.

    Acts 27:13
27:13 When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained theirdesire, putting out to sea, they sailed close by Crete.

The wind brings to the withered or decreasing spirituality.

    Luke 12:55
12:55 And when you seethe south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is.

    Acts 27:14-15

27:14 But not long after, a tempestuous head wind arose, called Euroclydon.
    27:15
So when the ship was caught, and could not head into the wind, we let herdrive.

The tempestuous wind comes against our boat of life. It refers to the false teaching that is against the building of the Body of Christ.

    Revelation 2:14-15

2:14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.
    2:15
Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

The doctrine of Balaam is looking for physical things or wages thus losing the spiritual ones.
The doctrine of Nicolaitans legalizes anything to gather a lot of people.

    Revelation 2:20

2:20 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allowthat womanJezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

The doctrine of Jezebel allows women to teach and command over men. It is the tempest that drowns.

    Acts 27:20

27:20 Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us,all hope that we would be saved was finally given up.

The wind of temptation and false teachings causes one not to be able to see the sun, moon, and stars. Without the sun means no love, without the stars means no Holy Spirit, without the moon means no redemption or releasing from sin. The peak is disappointment and despairs.

The way out of the waves and winds is quietness and confidence[Matthew 14:27].

Isaiah 30:15

30:15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”But you would not,

Being silence means correcting ourselves. If we find sin or fault, we must confess and repent.
Being quietness means we trust and entrust ourselves to God.

1 Peter 4:7

4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

It is like stretching out our hands to God and crying out His name in worship prayer. God will stretch out His hands towards us.

Matthew 14:30-31
14:30 But when he saw that the wind wasboisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched out Hishand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

The hand of God is stretched out to lift up us from fall because of doubt so we can be calm.

John 21:5-6

21:5 Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.”
21:6
And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

The hand of God lifts us up from failure because disobedience, thus we can obey Him and have success. His hand opens the way for us, the impossible becomes possible.

Revelation 7:16-17

7:16 They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;
7:17
for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

The hand of God leads us to the living fountains of waters, up to New Jerusalem where there is no more tear.

Revelation 21:3-4, 1

21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God iswith men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and betheir God.
21:4
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
21:1
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

God blesses us.
